I sent an email using my mobile phone?
usually under 1 min
Reply:It will take a minute for the email to reach the person.

Unlike email over WAP, email over SMS (or mobile email) can be composed easily and quickly without incurring expensive airtime charges since composition is done offline. Also, since most mobile phones today have the ability to store SMS templates, you can set up a broad range of messages that you can send at the touch of a few buttons!

Since everyone has SMS these days, you may wonder: Why send an email over SMS when I can SMS that person directly?

Elementary, dear Watson. In the above example, it will be too informal or perhaps even impolite to send an SMS, especially when the recipient is a client. Also, you'll find mobile email to be more useful than SMS in circumstances where the receiving party does not have SMS. For those of you who work in a multinational business ecosystem, you'll discover the ability to revert to overseas counterparts most invaluable.

Likewise, everyday users will find mobile email useful, even if it's just for keeping in touch with friends, family, colleagues, lecturers, and whoever else. Personally, I'm using mobile email to have a copy of all my office email routed to my phone so I can quickly follow up on action items and discussions. Likewise, I filter emails from my personal mailbox and catch up with friends while I'm on the road.

For what mobile email is worth, it's a quick and dirty alternative to hunting for a cybercafe to check my mail while I'm on the road.
