If you go to wap.oa.yahoo.com on your mobile phone you will be able to access Yahoo! email and search from your phone.
Whether or not you can get IM depends on which phone you have.
The access is all free, but of course you'll have to pay the cost of the data transfer to your cell phone operator (i.e. the more you use, the more you pay)
